Preparing for radiological exams

 

WARNING:

  1. If you are pregnant or think you might be, please inform our secretary as quickly as possible at
    +41 21 989 33 55 (the information will be held confidential).
  2. Take your medication as usual
  3. If you are diabetic and you need to be on an empty stomach, you may drink a sugared liquid.

 

CT-Scanner:

On an empty stomach, without drinking or smoking for four hours prior to the exam.

 

Virtual Colonscopy:

Please contact our secretary.

 

MRI:

No preparation necessary – however, for brain MRI: please wear no makeup or jewelry.

Note: Please inform us immediately if you have a pacemaker, cardiac valves, cerebral aneurysm clips, or metallic debris in your eyes.

 

Angio and cholangio-MRI:

strict fast.

 

Cardiac MRI:

  • Only morphological, no preparation necessary
  • With medication-induced stress, no coffee, tea, or chocolate on the day of the exam

 

Ultrasound, Doppler:

  • For the abdomen, lesser pelvis, pregnancy, prostate, bladder, kidneys: fast for four hours prior to the exam and do not empty the bladder.
  • For other regions: no preparation necessary.
  • Guided aspiration: contact our secretary.

 

Mammogram:

No preparation necessary. The exam should be performed between the fifth and 15th day of the menstrual cycle. Please bring alongpreviousmammograms.

 

Hysterosalpingography:

Based on your gynecologist’s instructions.

 

Mineralometrics (bone densitometry):

No preparation necessary.

 

Urography:

Fast for four hours before the exam.

 

Arthrography:

No preparation necessary.

 

Infiltration:

No preparation necessary.
