CLINIQUE LA PRAIRIE CELEBRATES ITS 80TH ANNIVERSARY
Clinique La Prairie, the award winning health Spa and Medical Center, based in Montreux, Switzerland, will this year celebrate its 80th anniversary.
The clinic was founded in 1931 by Dr Paul Niehans, a pioneer of cellular therapy whose methods were based on the extraction of various organs from sheep and sheep fetuses. The tissue cells from these organs were administered to the patients as a means of rejuvenating the immune system and speeding recovery after illness. This anti-aging cure has become known worldwide as “Revitalization”. Adhering to the clinic’s philosophy of continuous innovation, dedicated research has led to the development of a refined “Revitalization” using purified sheep liver extracts and specific biogically active factors, shown to rejuvenate and boost the human immune system. The clinic also continues its development of other
advanced techniques, especially in the fields of preventative medicine, health, wellbeing, fitness, nutrition and beauty treatments.
Clinique La Prairie’s anniversary also marks changes to the senior management team, with the appointment of Mr Gwynn Brand as the new chief executive. Also, following his retirement, Dr Thierry Waelli, the medical director since 2001, is succeeded by his former deputy, Dr Adrian Heini.
Commenting on the next phase of the clinic’s development, Mr Brand emphasized that innovation would remain his top priority. He said, “In addition to our world renowned medical facilities, rejuvenation programs and beauty treatments, we have already introduced further services. These include one which we call “Rebalancing” – for those experiencing exhaustion, insomnia or depression – as well as other specialized medical “Weight Management” programs. I am determined to maintain the clinic’s standing as a world class institution, and look forward to even further achievements and awards in future.’
The clinic, which has grown over the past 35 years during its ownership by Mr Armin Mattli, now has a staff of 240, including surgeons, physicians, nurses, dieticians, spa and beauty specialists. It will celebrate its anniversary this year with a series of events and medical presentations throughout the world, and will publish a book recording the history of the clinic which will be launched in October.
